KPMG can pay £18.4m and 4 of its senior employees have been banned from the accountancy occupation for deceptive regulators over the agency’s botched audits of collapsed outsourcing firm Carillion.
An investigation into KPMG’s work discovered the 4 former employees members had “made, or connived in or have been knowingly related to making sure false or deceptive representations”, to the Monetary Reporting Council.
They’ve been fined a mixed £365,000 and been kicked out of the Institute of Chartered Accountants for between seven and 10 years. A fifth member of employees was severely reprimanded.
